Overview

Walka Water Works is a popular picnic and recreation area steeped in history. The old pumping station was built in 1887, and the complex features a striking chimney and ornate brickwork. It is one of the largest and most intact 19th Century industrial complexes in the Hunter Valley. The large lake area has over 300 species of birdlife to observe and walking trails surround the lake.

Walka Water Works features picnic and barbecue facilities and a children’s playground area. The area is also available for outdoor weddings and functions.
